the website is back! REJOICE. (oh, and i'm also back, but that's not as important)

so we switched our host, domain transfer got delayed, Andrew threatened to kill someone if this site didn't work soon, blah blah blah. what matters now is that it's up and running and the world is awesome. let bygones be bygones, as they say. it's not like i broke the site..... maybe. kinda. somewhat. most likely. i blame the internet.

anyhow, the site's back (obviously) and i'm back (who cares) from a trip to Hong Kong, where i also managed to visit Bangkok, Manila, Japan, and China.

here's my take on their street fashion "scene":

Bangkok — this city, as a whole, looks like it's modelling itself after Japan. you look at a magazine rack, its got Thai and Japanese magazines. walk in to a bookstore, the biggest section is often occupied by Manga (aka. Japanese comic books). and the architecture is so blatantly Japanese-influenced it's kinda funny (that is, if you're the type to find architecture funny). so consequently, their street fashion (particularly their tees) are heavily inspired by their Japanese counterpart and shares a similar love for the quirky and beautifully absurd (as opposed to alot of the North American stuff that i find is more focused on a clever concept or slogan). they also seem to love Design in general, which you know, kudos to them for that.

Manila — none? i dunno. all i did here was eat. they have cheap food.

Hong Kong — the epicenter of trend-seekers. BAPE + NIKE + STUSSY + EVISU = Hong Kong. when it comes to street fashion labels, there isn't even a sense of 'underground'-ness to it. these stuff is pretty much considered mainstream over there.

China — if you see something extremely cheap, chances are it's extremely fake. they even have fake Kleenex tissue. other than that, i know nothing of their street fashion scene.

Japan — the holy land of... just about everything, including street fashion. it's the home of Graniph (my personal favourite Japanese label) and, of course, Nigo of "The Bathing Ape". anyone who considers themselves a fan of street fashion, and well, just anyone in general, needs to visit this place at some point in their life.

that's about it. i'll make another post soon to share with you guys all the sweet tees i picked up on the trip (not the actual tees, just photos of it).

word.
